The Assist

Founder Story

Strategic Partner. Elite Athlete. Operational Architect.

Meet the driving force behind The Assist.

“I didn’t study how basketball is a business. I executed it, one budget, one roster, one recruiting cycle at a time.”
01 · Before the Boardroom

Two Careers. One Standard: Execute.

Fifteen years playing. Twelve more building, operating, and scaling a Division I program from the inside.

Before I ever ran a program, I lived inside one, as a player. I know what the dog days actually feel like: the early mornings nobody sees, the mental toughness it takes to keep showing up when the results aren’t there yet, the fortitude required to trust the process on the days it’s hardest to believe in it.

That’s not theory to me. It’s 27 years of showing up on the days nobody’s watching, adjusting when the plan breaks, and getting the job done anyway.

Then I took that same standard into enterprise tech, closing multi-million-dollar deals and driving the go-to-market strategy behind one of the largest SaaS ecosystems in the world. Add a Nike All-American point guard résumé to the mix, and The Assist was born.

I made that jump myself, from the court to the boardroom, and I know exactly how hard it is without the right preparation. That’s why player growth and life after sports aren’t an afterthought here. They’re built into the work from day one.

02 · How We Work

Executive Coaching and More

Four commitments we make on the first call.

01

Direct

You work with the principal. No handoff to an associate bench after the sale.

02

Documented

Every recommendation lands as a playbook with an owner, a cadence and a date.

03

Compliant

NIL work is built to survive a compliance review, not to test one.

04

Candid

If an engagement is not the right fit, we say so on the call and refer you elsewhere.

03 · Origin

Why The Assist Was Built

I founded the company as BCMARS Consulting Group, operating today as The Assist, to close the gap between two worlds that rarely talk to each other.

Advisory work doesn’t have to be cold or rigid. We bring the discipline of enterprise strategy and the standard of elite competition together, with real warmth and a genuine stake in your program’s long-term success. We treat your program like our home court: competitive, transparent, and all in.

04 · Perspective on Leadership

What we believe about running a program.

On Culture

“Accountability isn’t a team meeting. It’s a daily operational habit.”

On Human Leadership

“High standards and deep empathy aren’t opposites. They’re the foundation of winning teams.”
